1. Patriotism and the way change affects people.
2. He uses pathos and mythos to give meaning to his speech. Mythos is the main one he uses, because he appeals to the American way of life and patriotism to show people how important voting is and how their opinion can shape the nation.
3. He uses pauses for emphasis and emphasizes important words for more meaning. His eye contact with the crowd was good, and he seemed conversational.
4. I think it was an effective speech because the crowd responded well to it and it had meaning to them, which is the point of a speech.
1. the overall theme of this speech is about being an american and what it means and how it needs to be changed.
2.Mythos because he talked about the american life, and how we can work harder, and work after eachother.
3.pauses-add more emphasize and it allows people to see what he wants them to think about.
4.i thought it was very effective because of they way he delivered the speech. he changes the pitch of his voice that makes me think about things he's saying.
1. I would say its about how to be an American.
2. I would say mythos because he is always talking about how to be an American.
3. He pauses a lot in the speech.
4. I thought it was effective because he said what he wanted and everyone liked it.
1) Its themes are about the strength of the American no matter what race or gender.
2) a. ethos: gives credibility to his family and thanks people for all they have done for him. Says that he could not have accomplished what he did without you or without many certain people.
b. pathos: He pauses and smiles at the audience. He also speaks slowly. He repeats "yes we can".
c. logos: His speech contains common sense and he admits that the government can not fix everything. He also gives specific stories that prove what he is talking about (ex: 106 year old female voter)
d. mythos: His speech is about how America can change and how he needs everyone to help his cause. He also is talking about the American dream.
3) He speaks slowly and pauses for applause and emotional appeal. He has very direct eye contact never looks down and makes sure to look at the entire crowd. He will also just pause and smile and let the thoughts set in.
4) I thought it was effective. He did a very good job delivering the speech. Always spoke with confidence, while appealing to all of Aristotle's Rhetorical Proofs.
1. That everyone needs to be involved in the government, no matter who they are or what they believe in; and that in order to change the things we think need changing, we have to push to accomplish that.
2. Pathos, he talks about his own experiences and his running-mates expirences, and it makes it seem more personable. Mythos, to make the point of his speech.
3. He uses pauses to emphasize words and specific ideas, and he uses lots of eye contact to again make it more personable.
4. It was effective, because he did a good job at delivering it, and the overall message of the speech was a good one.
