Advertisement Analysis- Due December 4th

Pick an advertisement from a magazine.

1. What is the name of the magazine and the date of publication?

2. What is the product being sold? What is the company?

3. Who do you think the target audience is? Why?

4. Which of Maslow's needs is this advertisement trying to appeal to?

5. Of Aristotle's four rhetorical proofs, which does this advertisement try to incorporate? How?


6. What other persuasive techniques that we discussed does this advertisement incorporate?


7. Overall, do you think this advertisement is effective in getting their target audience to buy their product?


8. If you were an advertiser, what kind of advertisement would you design to persuade people to buy the product? Explain in detail.

5. Physical, football is a physical sport.

3. Guys, because it shows a guy with a girl tugging at his shirt.

5.Pathos, because it makes him feel good. Also
6. It also uses sensory details, because you can actually smell the product.
7. I think it is effective, I know I would like some.
8. I would make one that makes people feel good and so that would make them want to buy my product.

5. Mythos, i think that it is this because it has a bullet and a hunter wich is the common thing a bullet is used for.

8. i would show the bullet with a huge buck because then they would think that they could get and awesome buck to.

2. Under Armour Cold Gear
3. Athletic people, or people out doors because it keeps you warm but isn't big and thick.
4. Identity because people work out to feel good about themselves.
5. Ethos because the girl in the advertisement uses cold gear while working out when it's cold.
6. Branding, Under Armour logo
7. Yes
8. I think I would do something similar to what they did, show someone using the product and show that it is working for them.

3. People in need of a better vehicle, the pickup in the picture looks really nice and shiny

5. Mythos, because it says "America's Best Truck" on the picture
6. Branding, the Chevy logo sticks out in the picture
7. Yes, if I were to be in need of a new vehicle, I would consider a Chevy after seeing this
8. I would show some statistics why what I'm selling is better than competitors.

3. Parents because they are saying that overweight kids grow up to be overweight adults

5. Pathos they are trying to get you to buy it so your kids will be healthy
6. Logos and sensory appeals because they have the Subway sign and what the food looks like
7.I think so because it make people look at what they are feeding their kids
8. I think I would do something similar because it is affective in making them feel guilty and want to buy the product.

Pathos... it applies to your emotions cuz how you feel is how you dress.
