1st Quarter Review Paragraph

Speech Class:

Since we're one quarter done with this semester class, I want you write a solid paragraph(topic sentence, at five supporting sentences, wrap up sentence) documenting what concepts and skills you've learned and developed over this semester.  Since I know you've talked about in English class and since Speech is a language arts class, I want you to write compound and complex sentences with correction punctation, capitalization, and spelling i.e. no IM slang.

This quarter in Mr. Mohr's class we have learned about many kinds of communication. I learned about small group communication, Interpersonal communication, and Intra personal communication. In interpersonal communication I learned how to communicate better with other people and talking too many people. In intra personal communication I learned how to communicate one on one and have good eye contact. In small group I learned how to just communicate with one or two people at a time.

I am Clayton Randolph and I am in speech. and i think that I have learned a lot of stuff about speech this quarter. one of the things that i have learned is how to talk to people about stuff more clearly. And how to be more brave speaking in front of people. so that is what i got out of the first quarter.

This quarter has gone by so fast; yet I have still learned a lot. I have learned how to write a speech well and to give it well. I also learned that you need to have very good eye contact;however, this does not always happen. I have been taught to change up the tone of your voice so that you do not sound so boring. Then I learned to be a good listener. Then I finally learned how to work well in groups. Now thats all the things that I learned in the 1st quarter of speech.

Over the course of this class, I have learned how to write a speech, how to give a speech, and many different types of communication. When giving a speech, you need to eye contact and enthusiasm. Writing a speech I have learned that you need to have a beginning, middle, and end. I have learned that there are many different types of communication, and how each one works. Although I have been in speech for only a quarter I have learned many new things including how to write a speech, how to give a speech, and different types of communication.

There are a few things that I have learned in this class. I have learned to give way better speeches then I ever used to. I know what Interpersonal and Intra personal are. What the types of communications we have. The listening skills that we have to have. And I've learned by the doing the Intercultural Projects, that some countries its good to have eye contact and in some its not so great to have eye contact.

i didn't realize that there were so many types of communication. one being that you need to look into a persons eyes when you are talking to them interpersonally; it makes you seem a lot more friendlier toward them. It is hard talking in front of a group, but it's not as bad as i thought it would be. i have learned above everything else that it isn't just hard for one person to do, it is hard on almost everyone to get up and speak in front of people. it takes a lot of practice and little tricks that help you. only 9 more weeks to go, hope thats enough time to get me less nervous in front of groups.

Speech is so important in life because if we didn't have good speech skills there would be no relationships, compromises, debates, etc. In speech so far, I have learned about intra personal, interpersonal, and starting on small group communication. Though, I had a tough time, because I was sick for about a week and it really set me back. We have given about a half dozen speeches so far and I have done well on most of them. This class also doesn't just teach you how to talk in front of a group, it requires logic and emotion. When giving group speeches it requires good teamwork. I first thought speech was going to be the worst class, because sometimes I get nervous in front of crowds, but it is growing on me.

This quarter, I've learned many different things. I've learned to write a speech with all the parts that need to be included. Like opener/hook, the three points needed, and to have good eye contact. I have also learned the different types of communication. Some of the different types include: Interpersonal, intrapersonal, small group and mass group. We have also learned about different types of listening skills. I have learned many different things during this first quarter of speech, hopefully the second quarter is just as good.

In speech class this first quarter I have learned many new concepts. What we first started to learn was how to write speeches and how to deliver them. Eye contact and transitions are two things I think I improved on this quarter. Along with speeches, we learned communication and listening skills. With communication we found out the five types of communication;they are interpersonal, intrapersonal, small group, public, and mass. After this first quarter I think I am now a better speaker, communicator and listener.

This quarter I have learned how to get over public speaking and standing in front of a lot of kids. Another thing that I have improved on is my eye contact; and writing a good speech. I have also learned how to be a good listener. I hope to improve a lot more this next quarter on everything. I assume if I can be an effective speaker it will help someday.

This quarter I learned to speak louder, use my imagination to create great transitions, and explain myself more.
the first speech i did everyone told me a was super quiet, i tried to improve myself by using my cheerleading voice to be louder, enunciate clearly, and seem un-nervous.
in what i believe was our first speech (when we had to use 3 objects to describe us) i used very good transitions. so i don't really think i need to improve my transitions but i could use more of them and maybe use longer ones too.
in the last speech we did (demo. speech) i didn't quite explain myself when it came down to telling you which foot to put out or which arm to stick in the air. in my future speeches i need to explain myself more.

THIS QUARTER I HAVE LEARNED A LOT ABOUT SPEAKING. IN THIS CLASS I HAVE WORKED MORE ON THE DETAILED PART OF SPEAKING. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE MANY DISTRACTIONS IN THIS CLASS I BELIEVE THAT I HAVE LEARNED QUITE A BIT. I ENJOY THIS CLASS VERY MUCH, AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS CLASS ARE EXITING TO WORK WITH. I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPEAKING AND HOW THERE IS NOT JUST ONE TYPE. I HAVE IMPROVED ON USING MY TRANSITIONS A LOT MORE, AND HAVE BEEN MORE ORGANIZED SINCE I HAVE STARTED. LIKE I SAID BEFORE I THINK THAT I HAVE LEARNED A LOT IN THIS CLASS AND I WILL PROBABLY LEARN MORE.

In this class I have learned many things. one of the thing I learn is what the types of communication are. Like small group what is the communication between 3 to 15 people. In small group they talk between each other in order to reach a goal. In small group you have to let ever one talk in order to get ideas and you need to listen. Because listen is a part of communication. so that what I learned.

I think that threw out the quarter that it is important to be able to give a speech because any ware and anytime in your life you may have to do it. I learned about interpersonal communication and the other terms we talked about in class are important and how we can use them. These could be used for many things in my life time.

In the first quarter I have learned so much. I've learned interpersonal, intrapersonal, small group. I will tell you on what I have learned on all three of them.
I learned that a lot of kids pick on Mr. Mohr and I feel like that they should not be picking on Mr. Mohr because he is a great teacher and he teaches a lot of good information. Mr. Mohr can be a fun guy and at the same time he can help a lot on homework.
What have I learned on interpersonal? I've learned on that interpersonal that you communicate to one on one. After I learned I had better communication to one on one and I had better eye contact like Mr. Mohr told me to have eye contact to certain people. I stop moving around because when I move it catches a person attention. I started to communicate with my parents more and I quit moving when I talk to my parents.
What have I learned on intrapersonal? I’ve learned that intrapersonal is that you communicate to self. I communicate to myself more on what we are doing for homework or what’s crazy on the news like the presidential election.
What have I learned on small group? I’ve learned that small group is people talking more than 10 to 15 people. I had better communication for small group. I started to quit moving when I talk in the small group or had better eye contact.
I’ve told you on what I had learned in the first quarter. I have learned a lot and i enjoy being with Mr. Mohr.
